Blackville’s Southwest Miramichi River Bridge No. 2 Closure

UPDATE: June 25, 2017: This is to confirm that the S.W. Miramichi River Bridge No.2 on Route 118 Campbell Road in the Village of Blackville will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic starting Monday June 26,2017 at 7:00 am until Sunday September 03,2017. A signed detour will be in place via Route 108 in Renous to Quarryville Road then Route 118 White/Gray Rapids.

The Southwest Miramichi River Bridge No. 2 on Route 118 Campbell Road in the Village of Blackville will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 6 a.m. Monday, June 26 to 7 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.

This work involves the removal of the total deck and sidewalk on the two spans at the west side of the bridge, pier removal and replacement and miscellaneous substructure repairs.

Detour signs will be posted. The detour route is Route 118 (Gray Rapids and White Rapids).

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure apologizes for the inconvenience and encourages motorists to drive safely in construction zones. The public is encouraged to call 511 or visit NB511.ca for updates on planned construction and maintenance activities.

Notice from Village of Blackville: The village of Blackville is not involved in the bridge repairs or construction.  Mayor and council have requested an option for a walkway for residents and that request was denied due to safety reasons. The first two spans of the bridge on the Blackville side will be completely removed and a walkway would be a major hazard for the public. The village would like to apologize for any inconvenience and assure residents that special measures are in place for fire and emergency services. The Department of Transportation can be reached at (506) 453-3939.
