Moving Forward Program

Moving Forward is a community-based group program offered throughout the year that helps children, youth and their mothers heal from the hurt of living with woman abuse in their family.

It is a free, voluntary program that offers separate, yet complimentary, group experiences for children and their mothers.

Children and their mothers learn:

  • to heal from the impact of abuse
  • to deal with family changes after abuse
  • the importance of honouring feelings
  • tips on safety planning
  • ways to handle problems.

The Moving Forward program runs approximately 10 weeks with one 1.5 hour session per week.

Current referrals support a group appropriate for children ages 7-10. Referrals (self or other) can be made by calling Shelley Donahue at 424-0246 (c) 843-6541 (h) or by emailing .

If referring family has children outside the target age group, there is a wait list and another program will commence when appropriate number of referrals are received.

Financial assistance can be offered for transportation and child care.
